Prerequisites for the Blackrock Depths Challenge quest include: Shadows of Blackrock (Normal) and at least 15 max level battle pets.

This is a pet from the Blackrock Depths Pet Dungeon vendor. It costs 3 Shadowy Gems, and you can earn 1 Shadowy Gem per week. There are 3 total pets from the dungeon vendor, one costs 1 Shadowy Gem, another 2 Shadowy Gems, and finally this, which is 3 Shadowy Gems. Meaning it will take a total of 6 weeks to obtain all the pets from the vendor.

The name implies that there were 12 experiments done before this one that were less effective than sticking some guns onto a mechanical tiger. What could those have possibly been?
