This little guy has a 25% drop chance from Rockweed Shambler, a rare spawn in Nazjatar. Getting it to spawn requires laps of Nazjatar killing Lost Algans and Wayard Algans hoping a Shambler will spawn in one's place. Took me about a week and a half of wiping out Algans several hours a day, and 6 Shamblers for my Budding Algan to drop. Worth it, but can be a bit boring so taking breaks to do new content and/or combining Algan genocide with the Undersea Usurper meta achiev broke up the monotiny.

This is my favorite pet in the entire game. Getting his rare to spawn is a pain and most days I dont have time to do it, but he was so worth it. While spawned he will randomly throw little fireballs at critters. God he is gorgeous.

There's no mistaking the evidence -- algan breed by budding. We can all put this argument to rest now.
