Collectors may have noticed that with the pre-expansion patch came many new pets in the Pet Journal.
These unfamiliar faces belong to battle pets that will be available once Legion officially launches on August 30, 2016.
We're happy to announce that we've added 94 new companions to the WarcraftPets database.
Check out 94 New Legion Pets
We look forward to collecting these pets Soon™!
A Special Thank You...
We'd like to extend a big thank you to Wain, who has helped assemble the wonderful battle pet images for WarcraftPets over the years.
A huge congratulation is also in order — Wain has been handed the responsibility of managing the popular hunter pet database, Petopia. Congrats!
Unfortunately, this coupled with maintaining Warcraft Mounts will mean he will need to refocus his time and energy on these websites and less so on WarcraftPets.
We are forever grateful for Wain and all of his hard work, and we look forward to seeing Warcraft Mounts and Petopia flourish under his guidance.
...And a Special Welcome
With one chapter closing another begins. Please join us in welcoming Ooghra as our new art and image coordinator.
Her work has already been featured in this year's April Fool's joke, along with the banner for our Pet Battle Royale series.
We look forward to working with Ooghra!
As always, thank you to the entire community for your continued support. Without you, WarcraftPets would not be possible. Thank you!

Pet Battle Royale: Legion Megabattle
August 10, 2016
While pet battling can be a good time, sometimes it's a lot of fun to think how our favorite companions might fare in a different kind of fight. The ring is ready for another Pet Battle Royale!
Here, we present different battle pets and then you, the WarcraftPets community, vote to determine the winner.
The Legion Returns
We know the Legion is coming in all its green-tinted glory. This month, to celebrate, we're throwing together several of our favorite demons and fel-tainted pets to see who reigns supreme... over Azeroth.
Here’s the tale of the tape...
Breed: Fel Flame
Name: Tindiro
Age: infinite
Height: 2 feet, 4 inches
Weight: incorporeal
Reach: 9 inches
Hometown: Tanaan Jungle
Signature Move: Conflagrate
Favorite Food: Smoldering Coal
Breed: Murkidan
Name: Lil'lidan
Age: ten... THOUSAND... YEARS...
Height: 2 feet 5 inches
Weight: 29 pounds 1 ounce
Reach: 11.2 inches (not including glaives)
Wingspan 32.4 inches
Hometown: Anaheim
Signature Move: Murkmorphosis
Favorite Food: Tears of the Goddess
Breed: Minfernal
Name: Minfernal
Age: Minfernal
Height: Minfernal
Weight: Minfernal
Reach: Minfernal
Hometown: Minfernal
Signature Move: Minfernal
Favorite Food: Minfernal
Breed: Fel Pup
Name: Fiyero
Age: 1 year 2 months
Height: 1 foot, 8 inches
Weight: 18 pounds 11 ounces
Reach: 11 inches
Hometown: Tanaan Jungle
Signature Move: Fel Immolate
Favorite Food: Fel Ham
You Decide Who Wins!
So, WarcraftPets, who should win?
Smart money would be on Fel Flame as a sentient bit of the Legion's corruption, but optimists may want to go for the Murkidan angle instead. Hey, a blind half night elf fish might have a shot at taking out an inexorable, infinitely resurrecting force of entropy all by its lonesome! ...uh, maybe.
What the Fel Pup lacks in being a durable fighter, it makes up in the adorability quotient. It's really not fair to send a tiny puppy out against the might of the Legion, but then when has the Legion ever fought fair?
Lastly, the Minfernal has a bit of an edge by being ridiculously rare, but as a fighter it's probably just about as useful as a doorstop.
Head to the poll and cast your vote
Voting ends August 17thth, so don't delay in helping decide which pet takes all!

Felbat Pup — Pet of the Month: August 2016
August 18, 2016
Defend Azeroth from the Burning Legion and liberate an adorable pet from their clutches? Sure! This month we're taking a look at the Felbat Pup.
Collecting the Felbat Pup
The Felbat Pup is a battle pet from Demon Invasions in the pre-Legion Patch 7.0.3.
Players can purchase this pet for 150 Nethershards from the Captive Wyrmtongue vendor.
This "Reluctant 'Quartermaster'" can be found in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and near invasion points. Players will need to have completed the Broken Shore quest chain in order to interact with the vendor in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.
To gather enough currency for the pet, characters level 10 and above need to head out to one of the 6 invasion points and defend against the invading demons.
Players earn Nethershards by:
- Tagging and helping defeat a major/named demon boss during Stage 2 and Stage 3. Notable demon commanders that spawn during Stage 3 are indicated on the mini-map and world map with large skull icons.
- Opening a Small Legion Chest and Large Legion Chest. These chests are awarded after completing Stage 2 and Stage 4 of the invasion.
- Completing Stage 3.
Unable to participate in the pre-expansion world event? The Felbat Pup is Bind On Use and cageable. Although this pet is event-exclusive and will not be purchasable from the vendor once the invasions have halted, players will probably be able to find this companion on the Auction House post-invasions.
Don't miss out! Save this little bat from a bleak future of working for the Burning Legion. The Felbat Pup would surely be happier in our collections than among fel-demons, right?
Battling with the Felbat Pup
The Felbat Pup, like many things Legion, is a new twist on an old classic.
Battlers who are familiar with the moves of other bats will recognize four of the Felbat's six moves. Bite in the first slot provides a no-frills DPS move. Both second slot moves are the same as a regular bat too. Screech lends a small amount of damage and a speed debuff to your opponent, while Hawk Eye serves only as a big DPS boost to your pet. The third slot shares Nocturnal Strike and, similarly to other bats, the Felbat Pup has no innate way to blind its opponent, making for an RNG-heavy proposition.
The different moves are few, but important, and lend a good deal of flavor and utility to the Felbat Pup.
In the first slot, instead of Leech Life (another move that requires synergy to be useful, but without it) the Felbat Pup has Fel Immolate, an attack that deals decent elemental damage up front with a DoT behind it.
The third slot plays host to Paralyzing Venom instead of the double-edged Reckless Strike. Paralyzing Venom interrupts the opponent's turn as long as the Felbat Pup goes first. Though the pup's speed isn't all that stellar with 289 at cap, because it's a flying pet, there's plenty of room for some interesting strategic opportunities.
Not that we'd want to give the Legion any ideas, of course.
Battling Discussion on the Felbat Pup
Pet of the Month is co-written by Liopleurodon, an experienced pet battler and long-time WoW player. She maintains her own Pet Battle blog and is a Pet Battle columnist on the fansite Blizzard Watch.
Legion Megabattle: Who won?
August 26, 2016
With the Legion expansion set to release less than a week from now, this is the perfect time to test their cuddly companions' weaknesses.
Check out the video below to witness the latest Pet Battle Royale winner as determined by you, the WarcraftPets community.
And the winner is...
This battle was a runaway from the start. Lil'lidan ran away with this victory handily. Personally I was hoping Minfernal would show better, or that maybe the adorability quotient of the Fel Pup would make a larger dent in the standings.
However, though the community places a whole lot of faith in the original demon hunter, we'll see who laughs last starting next week.
...The Burning Legion. The Burning Legion laughs last.
In the world of pet battling, there's always a next match. You never know who might show up in the ring in the next Pet Battle Royale! Check back soon for another chance to vote for the next champion.
