PTR 4.2 Update: Faction Balloons
June 09, 2011
UPDATE: The Alliance Balloon is a reward from a quest offered by Vin in Stormwind, while the Horde Balloon is a reward from a quest offered by Jaga in Orgrimmar. Both quests are named Blown Away.
The PTR is slowly winding down, yet MMO-Champion found two new companion pet spells within the latest PTR build! [source]
No other information is known about these two interesting "pets" yet. Could Blizzard be planning a party of sorts? Perhaps one that requires balloons, streamers, cake... and, oh my, this is starting to sound like a birthday party. We will have to wait and see, but we look forward to finding out more and bringing you all the details in the near future!

A World of Vanity Pet Resources
June 11, 2011
WarcraftPets provides you with a bunch of resources for building your collection of companion pets. In addition to listing every companion pet in-game, we also offer a guide to collecting Vanity Pets by Zone and you can filter pets in a variety of useful ways.
Here are some other resources that are worth a look...
Wowhead's Non-combat Pet Guide
Perculia of Wowheadnews.com wrote up a wonderful, compact overview of all our favorite mini-companions.
Wowhead's guide features a complete list of pets as well as pet-related achievements. Wowhead's article has a dedicated section that also lists by source, such as pets earned from quests, trading card game companions, and many others. In addition to our site, it's a great starter resource, especially for collectors who are just beginning the awesome adventure of collecting pets!
The Undermine Journal
If you've never heard of The Undermine Journal before, it's a website that tracks, lists, and alerts you of current and updated in-game auctions even if you're not in-game!
Each (US) realm has its own section with auction house categories such as Hot Items, Enhancements and Consumables. A similar EU dedicated website link can be found on The Undermine Journal's front page.
It has been brought to our attention that this informational website has added a companions category (link shows all pets on the Alliance Scarlet Crusade realm) in the Enhancement section. So if you're looking to start playing the vanity pet market or just seeking a cheap and quick purchase, The Undermine Journal is a great resource.
Good luck and Happy Collecting!

Searing Scorchling is Back in 4.2
June 21, 2011
When the Frigid Frostling replaced the Searing Scorchling in June of 2010, we remained hopeful that our fiery friend would eventually resurface and be available to collectors again in the future. It took awhile, but we are happy to announce that the scorchling will finally be making a reappearance in Patch 4.2! [source]
A New Home
As of 4.2, the Searing Scorchling will have a (possibly very) low drop chance from Zen'Vorka's Cache. This cache is purchasable for 30 Marks of the World Tree from Zen'Vorka who is located at the new Firelands quest hub in the Molten Front.
Unlocking the Vendors
The catch is that players must unlock all the vendors of the new questing area before being allowed to buy this mysterious cache. This process includes completing the three stages of the quest line, as well as the three vendor-specific quests, Filling the Moonwell, Additional Armaments, and Calling the Ancients.
The entire adventure will take over one month to complete. Thankfully, by the time players have reached the end of the storyline, completing all the new dailies will award about 30 Marks of the World Tree each day. Just enough marks to try your luck with the cache on a regular basis!

The Arrival of Patch 4.2!
June 30, 2011
UPDATE: A change to the model of both Hippogryph pets was also discovered in this patch. In the new model, they've lost their baby fat and feature a sleeker head and beak. It's unclear whether this change was intended for both pets or just one to help differentiate the two. We'll update the model(s) on our site as soon as we know for sure.
Patch 4.2 is here and with it comes many lovely treats for all of us pet collectors!
