As many of you may already be aware of, the items that teach the Smolderweb Hatchling and Worg Pup are (temporarily) unavailable in-game. Due to the change to the zone, the quest chains and rewards were removed from Burning Steppes, leaving collectors with no way of obtaining these two companions post-Cataclysm.

However, we have some potentially good news from the PTR! With patch 4.0.6 a new item was discovered: Smolderweb Egg. Could this be a replacement for the item that previously taught the Smolderweb Hatchling? While it seems likely, there is still no confirmation if it will indeed replace the hatchling's carrier or how this newly discovered item will be obtained.

The Worg Pup has also yet to be rediscovered or found, but we remain hopeful that both companions will be making a return in the future.

WoW TCG Loot has some interesting news about the next WoW Trading Card Game expansion set. 'War of the Elements' is set to be released late March.

"As promised by Cryptozoic, the common loot is another re-skinned pet, this time the [Lil' Phylactory] is getting a makeover <The Black Flame> style."

The Lil' Phylactory is currently an item that can be purchased from the official Blizzard Pet Store, and it teaches Lil' K.T. This means that this little lich will have a twin of its very own soon, and Lil' XT and Landro's Lil' XT are going to have a new set of brothers to play with!

We will have to wait and see if Lil' K.T.'s brother will be an exact copy, or if he will be receiving any color, model, or animation changes.

One thing's for sure, though, Landro Longshot and his Black Flame crew sure love to clone pre-existing companions! Who knew goblins dabbled so heavily in genetic engineering? One would think that such experiments would be Breanni's a gnomes' expertise.

UPDATE: The Guild Herald will also only require a revered reputation with your guild to purchase, down from exalted, once Patch 4.0.6 is released!

With the first month of Cataclysm behind us, things are starting to settle down. We hope these past few weeks have been kind to everyone, and that Great Father Winter brought you exactly the pet you've been waiting for!

Here are some updates in recent pet news:

Armadillo Pup Reputation Change
In the official PTR notes, the Armadillo Pup only requires a revered reputation with your guild to purchase, down from exalted. This is definitely exciting news, one that many will be looking forward to if this change goes live!

United Nations Achievement Bug
There are some reports that the United Nations achievement is currently not behaving correctly on live servers. Rather than taking into account all unique reputations of revered guild members, the achievement is only showing the exalted reputations of a single guild member.

This achievement is necessary to unlock the Dark Phoenix Hatchling, so we can only hope that the matter will be investigated and fixed soon.
