NEW Pets! Patch 3.3 is finally here, bringing with it a ton of changes and new content, including three new pets: Albino Snake, Calico Cat and Perky Pug. Breanni, the <Master Geneticist> ... er <Pet Supplies> vendor of Dalaran has added the new cat and snake pets to her wares. Supplies are unlimited so get yours today... or tomorrow... or whenever the lag in Dalaran goes away!

Breanni is also in charge of distributing the new Perky Pug pet. However, this little fella requires a little more effort than simply plunking down 50g. You must first demonstrate your patience and determination by grouping with a total of 100 random players to defeat heroic dungeons, using the new Dungeon Finder system. After all, it takes a lot of tolerance and dedication to care for this special companion. Now if only Breanni would stock flea collars and carpet cleaner...

Landro's Pet Box
Okay, so I was completely wrong in thinking Landro's Pet Box was an actual box pet. Hey, it sounded good at the time! Actually, this item is a mystery box that contains a random TCG loot item. Most of the time it will be a common consumable: Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuit, Path of Cenarius or Sandbox Tiger. Occasionally, lucky players will score a pet: Ethereal Soul-Trader, Dragon Kite or Bananas! Each pet box costs 2,000 points at the UDE Points Store.

Raptor Hatchlings
The raptor hatchling pets that previously dropped off rare mobs are now lootable from rare raptor nest ground spawns. These nests spawn in the same areas as the rare raptors but their spawn timers are not linked. Affected pets include the Darting, Leaping, Ravasaur and Razormaw Hatchlings.

NEW Pet! According to WoW.com, many players received a Core Hound Pup in their mail upon logging in after the new patch. Blizzard has confirmed that the Core Hound Pup is sent to all characters (current and future) on all accounts tied to a Battle.net account that's linked to an authenticator:

The Core Hound Pup is a gift for anyone using an authenticator (attached to an account) whether it's the physical authenticator or the mobile authenticator. Anyone who attaches an authenticator will also receive this lovable new pet. Think of it as your own personal guard dog.

If you remove the authenticator from your Battle.net account, the Core Hound Pup will disappear from the collections of all of your characters after you log out of the game. You'll need to reattach an authenticator to receive the pet again, at which point you'll find him in your mailbox once more. If you switch authenticators while in-game, your pet will remain intact.

UPDATE:  12-12-2009 11:28 PM: All pages that were disabled have been restored. Unfortunately the problem has not been fixed and is likely to return, but for now the site is stable. We'll continue to monitor the situation and hopefully we'll find an answer soon.

12-10-2009: As of around 1:00 AM (EST) WarcraftPets began to experience unexplained stability issues. Several pages appear to be affected. These pages are hanging and eventually triggering an error 500 message. In an effort to keep the site online as we troubleshoot, we may disable certain pages throughout the site. These pages could be offline for a couple of days. It's also possible that we'll have to disable some features (such as collection tracking) as we continue to troubleshoot.

WoW-Achievements is having a fun contest that we thought might be of interest to the WarcraftPets crowd. They're giving out a pet Grunty (the Murloc Marine) every day for the next 12 days.

There will be a new trivia question every day. They tried to make them fairly difficult, but I'm sure some of you lore people out there won't have a problem with them.

Even though the winners were chosen at random, we still reviewed all 1,554 entries so we could share some of our favorites with you. There were a ton of amazing ideas.   Drake P. was randomly chosen to receive a Spectral Tiger Cub, an Imp in a Ball and 200 Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuits for his pet suggestion of a Trouser Trogg: A rare breed of trogg, these little buggers enjoy tearing through your pants drawers to make off with a pair of your favorite trousers!

  Sabina H. had the luck of the RNG when she won a set of Series 1 FigurePets, a Tuskarr Kite and 150 Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuits. Her pet suggestion was for a Blood Beast, like the ones spawned by Deathbringer Saurfang.
• 3rd Place
  Nicolas G. scored a Rocket Chicken and 100 Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuits for his randomly selected entry of The Goblin Cheesy-Thing. This green, smelly "creature" can be cooked up using an ancient goblin recipe. It bubbles and pops, moves around and might even explode into a noxious cloud of cheesy fumes.

Holiday Tip
Be sure to unwrap your Winter Veil presents, all of which will be available under the Winter Veil trees in Ironforge and Orgrimmar beginning on December 25^th. This is a great time to round out your pet collection with several Winter Veil pets that are readily available at this time of year. And if you don't get the pet you want, check the auction house — there will be some great deals on Winter Veil pets through early January.
